On Tuesday, January 26, Governor Tim Pawlenty addressed a crowd of nearly 200 employees, friends, family and supporters of Wells Concrete at their new Albany, Minnesota, facility. Pawlenty was there to recognize the success of Wells Concrete’s growth during the economic downturn.
"We are all in the business of creating jobs,” explained Pawlenty. “We must continue to work to make Minnesota more competitive for businesses. With strong leadership, a devoted workforce, and a community of support, Wells Concrete is a shining example of how the public sector and private sector can come together to help businesses grow.”
The speech comes four months after Wells Concrete opened the new 185,000 square foot facility, creating 50 new jobs. Another 100 jobs are expected to be added over the next five-years.
Wells Concrete also has facilities in Wells, Minnesota and Grand Forks, North Dakota.
Speakers at the event included John Rivisto, CEO, Wells Concrete, and Dennis Sand, Mayor, City of Albany.
Wells Concrete announces the recent hire of Tanya M Pierce as their new Director of Marketing and Business Development. Her duties will include long range strategic planning, target client planning, collecting and leveraging client insights, creating winning proposals, and management of client relationships.
“As a strategic initiative to elevate Wells Concrete’s position in the project delivery mix, Tanya is committed to helping the firm take our business to the next level through effectively connecting with the marketplace, leveraging our expanded product line, and carving out unique opportunities to tell our story,” said John Rivisto, CEO.
She has a wealth of experience in the architectural and engineering community including having spent nearly ten years with a major commercial contractor in a strategic marketing and business development role.
She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Minnesota Duluth.
Wells Concrete recently announced that its’ third manufacturing facility, located in Albany, Minnesota, has begun production.
In addition to producing Wells Concrete’s existing line of architectural and structural products the Albany facility will produce Architectural and Structural Precast concrete products new to Wells Concrete’s line including twelve-foot double tees for parking structures, hollow core planks, and insulated hollow core wall panels.
"This new facility will allows us to build on our existing customer relationships by supplying them with product in a full service, one-stop shop,” said Spencer Kubat, Vice President of Sales at Wells Concrete.
“With a growing base of customers requesting both architectural and structural concrete products, the Albany facility will nearly double our capacity allowing us to maintain our commitment to bringing concrete to life and remain the solution provider of choice for our customers.”
The main production plant will be 165,000 square feet. The facility also includes a 16,000 square feet finishing and concrete batch plant and 4,000 square feet aggregate storage area.
"Centrally located within the five-state area, the Albany facility provides not only a proximity to resources such as workforce and aggregates but allows us to more efficiently deliver products to our customers throughout the region,” explained Kubat.
