Wells Concrete was selected to provide precast for the Crystal Public Works Facility with Kodet Architecture Group (Minneapolis, MN); Big-D Construction (Minneapolis, MN); and Ericksen Roed & Associates (St. Paul, MN). The 63,000 square foot facility will occupy the site of a former Knights of Columbus hall along West Broadway in Crystal. The new public works building will replace an outdated facility and is designed to include offices, conference rooms and an employee lunchroom, 90-foot-wide-drive-through vehicle storage bays, overhead cranes and vehicle hoist and high-speed efficiency doors.
The architectural precast wall panels will contribute a unique attribute to the aesthetics of this structure. Wells Concrete collaborated with AP Liners to create a new form liner that further enhanced the aesthetics the design team was looking for. Overall the wall panels will include two different form liners to simulate a layered stone look. Product will be produced in Wells Concrete’s Albany, MN plant. Installation is expected to begin the end of January.
