Description:

The new $22.95 million Westonka Activity Center and Performing Arts Center at Mound Westonka High School project is well on its way with precast panels and floors supporting the buildings.

The Westonka Activity Center will include three multi-use courts, a wrestling gym, a fitness room, an elevated track for walking/jogging, community locker rooms and meeting/gathering space. The new performing arts center will include a 600-seat theater with an orchestra area, a vibrant public lobby with gallery/display space, a green room, dressing rooms, and full-sized scene and costume shops.

The Westonka Schools greatly appreciate the generosity, trust and enthusiasm shown by the community to support this project.  Residents of all ages will be welcome into these community spaces in the fall of 2018.

Wells Concrete contributed more than 45,000 sq. ft. of precast for this project including 118 members of 10’ wide insulated wall panels that boast an acid etch finish. A design challenge for this project was the coordination of the mechanical ducting and piping with the precast structure.  The solution  was several meetings with BKBM, Wold, K-A, Laketown Electric, Weidner’s Mechanical and Wells; working as a team, we found creative solutions to coordinate large mechanical duct openings into our precast walls.
