Supporting Athletic Growth
Just north of Allstate Arena, the Rosemont Ice Arena is a new hub for athletes, families, and fans with two regulation NHL ice sheets. The City of Rosemont envisioned a space that could support a growing demand for quality ice time while offering a welcoming experience for local hockey and figure skating, as well as a practice facility for the Chicago Wolves.
Wells partnered closely with the design and construction team to shape an environment that could keep pace with constant activity and community use. The building envelope features subtle reveals that create a clean, modern pattern, enhanced by a painted finish. Prefabricated stadia systems added durability to a high activity area. Between the two rinks, Wells created a structural system to support a mezzanine with floor-to-ceiling views of both rinks. The elevated level blends social spaces, dining, and convenience for families and fans. Through early coordination, including creative sequencing such as temporarily leaving out select wall panels for crane access during roof structure installation, the construction team was able to keep installation moving efficiently and safely.
To serve daily activities and major events at the neighboring Allstate Arena, Wells provided solutions for a two-story parking deck with a connecting link that streamlines movement between the venues. Stairs and treads created with DEX in the grand entrance complete the arrival experience and state-of-the-art feel of the complex.
The result is a facility that strengthens Rosemont’s role as regional destination for hockey and figure skating while offering durability, efficiency, and long-term value the city envisioned.
