Honoring heritage through design.

In the far Northwoods of Wisconsin is the Forest County Potawatomi Community Center, a hub for local cultural education, recreation, athletic training, wellness and social events. The 110,000 sq ft facility boasts a dual-use pool complete with spa and recreation area, a fitness center, climbing wall, 20,000 sq ft wood court gymnasium, and a 20,000 sq ft field house with an elevated 110-yard jogging track above.

The Forest County Potawatomi (FCP) community had a strong design vision and was an integral part of the process from the very beginning. The structure’s floorplan consists of a central hub and two wings on either side; from above, the building looks like an eagle in flight – representing the FCP’s sacred symbol. Wells manufactured and erected the exterior precast wall panels with a unique Graphic Concrete™ imprinted design. The stunning effect simulates feathers to continue the theme of the symbolic eagle. The community center respects the culture and history of the FCP people and will be a facility the community will proudly use for years.
